Selling Gold at ADI -- How Does it Work?
Bring your gold items to sell in your choice of container. We've
seen everything from gold carried in fancy jewelry boxes to plastic
sandwich baggies. If you are a walk-in customer, simply let one
of our kind sales staff know that you are interested in selling
your gold and you will be promptly introduced to one of our expert
gold buyers.* Already made an appointment? Your gold buying expert
will be awaiting your arrival. Just state your name to one of our
sales associates and you'll be on your way.
What Kind of Gold Can I Sell?

 How
Much Time Does it Take?
The time you spend with your gold buying expert depends upon the
amount of items you bring in and the ease in which your pieces can
be evaluated. For example, if you bring in a handful of average
gold items -- a few necklaces, a couple charms, a plain wedding
band -- you may be out the door within five to ten minutes. Larger
piles of treasure with more complicated items can take up to 30-minutes
or so. Either way, it's not a lot of time invested for a pleasing
payout.
What Are You Paying for Gold and Can I Get a Quote over
the Phone?
Hands down, these are our most frequently asked questions today.
If only they were as easily answered as they are asked. Truth be
told, the experts at American Diamond Importers look at many factors when determining the best
price for your gold and jewelry.
The price of gold changes almost every day. Purity is also important.
For example, 24kt gold pieces will be of greater value than gold
that is 14kt. As well, a necklace may be real gold, but the clasp
might not be. Accurate weight and evaluation is key. Importantly,
we do not want to give you a scrap price for a high quality item
that we deem too good for melting down. If it is something we find
perfect for sale in the store, you are going to receive more. This,
we can only determine in person.
With your gold items in hand, our gold buying experts will have
all the tools in-house to weigh, measure, test, and examine the
pieces for value. The same is true at the gold parties. These professional
tools empower our gold buying experts to accurately note the value
of your gold and to give you the best possible price.
Consequently, these factors make it impossible for us to
give you an estimate over the phone or in casual conversation. Keeping these factors in mind, even if you call with an idea of
the weight and you know the item is stamped 14k, we will not be
at liberty to provide a telephone quotation. We highly recommend
that you bring in your gold for evaluation or to an ADI Gold Party.
 What
is Pennyweight and How Do I Get Paid?
After determining quality and purity, our trained experts measure
your gold by the pennyweight. A pennyweight (dwt) is a unit of mass,
which is the same as 24 grains, 1/240th of a troy pound, 1/20th
of a troy ounce, approximately 0.055 ounces, or approximately 1.555
grams. It is the standard to which most precious metals are weighed.
Our professionals will then make you an offer based on the pennyweight
of your gold. Should you accept this offer, we will give you a check
at that time, or if you prefer we can also offer store credit for
future purchases at American Diamond Importers.
What if I'm Not Sure?
Need some time to think it over? That's fine. You are welcome to
take your gold home and give our offer some thought. There is never
any obligation.
